US to enable oat and soy to be labeled as milk

Some great news incoming from the US. Alternative milks will now be able to use the word milk on their packaging!

Europe in contrast appears to be moving in the opposite direction with many concerning restrictions being fought over both publically and privately by dairy lobbyists.

We should be making it easier not harder for the plant-based sector to do business and for consumers to identify with these products.

If we're to take things literally then can the dairy industry please shed a little light on these phrases and names?

- Pigs in blankets - I'm yet to see anyone eating bacon wrapped in a towel or cloth

- Beef wellington - does all beef come from the town of Wellington? They're incredible industrious bunch if so

- Stinking bishop (this is a type of cheese) - it seems a bit harsh commenting on the hygiene of clergymen

- Pinderkaas - the dutch name for peanut butter

Finally my favourite - lactose free cheese when I've been told a million times over that cheese must contain lactose to be called cheese!

Don't you just love good old fashioned hypocrisy!
