Update on our white bean pilot - 2023

The first shoots of our white bean pilot are now visible at the pilot farms we're working with. This year we've expanded our pilot to 3 farms in 3 different regions of the Netherlands (Noord-Holland, Gelderland and Noord Brabant).

We're growing 3 varieties of white beans to ascertain which grows best and in which locations. We're also exploring how we scale up regenerative practices.

Provided the results are positive, we're seeking to grow all of our white beans in the Netherlands next year using regenerative practices. The white bean is the base for our Young Dutch and Greek White. Through our current supply chain, we've already achieved an emissions reduction of 7.5 times (compared to a dairy gouda) and 25 times (compared to a dairy feta) which will fall further as we localise this crops growth here in the Netherlands.

White beans are an excellent nitrogen fixator and as of next year we're aiming to work alongside both arable and dairy farmers to provide a transition for farmers away from dairy agriculture.
